but I don't like being taken for granted (which is they way I'm beginning to feel now). I'll help out and fix issues, give guidance, etc. I no longer play Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, so any time I spend working on this ruleset is time taken away from FG projects for games that I do play. Like I've said many times - this is a community ruleset and it'll need the community to get involved with testing and reporting issues. If it works in FG classic and it doesn't in Unity then please report it in Unity playtest forums. Haven't had enough experience with AoR specifically to say what books would be good additions. The Unity playtest forum is to report any problems at all with running in Unity. #Age of rebellion races plusPlus the players will be much more invested in their own characters than some pre-made ones If you overused big characters, they lose their special feeling, and the chance that you may missportray their character or accidentally conflict with the existing Star Wars story (some are okay with that, but to me, I want to stay within the reasonable bounds of canon to make my games feel more real and canonically possible)Ībsolutely, the beginner games don't really reference specific details of the pregen character's backstories, so you can use custom characters so long as they still fit in the overall story's narrative. Heck, if you look at the Mandalorian, even commandos like Cara Dune hadn't even heard of Luke Skywalker. You don't want to ruin the novelty of your PCs interacting with big wigs like Luke Skywalker. You can include big characters on special occasions, but I would make sure to avoid using them frequently, and I believe the books even recommend that you make them very rare experiences. I believe Age of Rebellion's flavor text references the Destruction of the first Death Star, so I believe (thoug I could be wrong) that the published content for AoR is set after that. Then the Rebellion is a unified organization, and a true galactic civil war has begun. I think you'll have the most resources and organization of the Rebellion for the PCs to work with from right before or after the first Death Star has been destroyed. No idea, this isn't really a game that needs a lot of peripherals and tokens have never been on my list needs. Chasing books can be fun, but it is expensive and time consuming at the moment.Ħ) I remember there being good resources for downloading community created tokens on the FFG forums, where can I find those tokens now? Remember that the CRB and dice are all you need. Anything else would depend on a number of factors. The era books, compendiums, and setting books have information that is useful across the board so they are easy to say "yes" to. Just remember that anything you stat the players may try to fight or kill and make peace with how you feel about changing canon.Ĥ) is it fairly easy to adapt the beginner game adventure to work with custom PCs instead of the pre-gens?ĥ) what 1-2 other books are most recommended for running a rebellion focused campaign? Personally I don't because it creates the Small Galaxy Effect, but there is no reason to avoid this if it seems important. Personally, for military campaigns I've run the vanilla era (post-Yavin) and the Old Republic era.Ģ) Which era makes the most sense for FFG published adventures?Ĭertainly post-Yavin, but it wouldn't be too difficult to adapt to most eras of the GCW.ģ) should I include major Star Wars characters? This mostly comes down to what era you have the most knowledge of or have the most interest in studying. My party has firmly rooted themselves into thinking the Rebellion has no chance of victory against the Empire even rejecting an offer to join due to a complete lack of hope.Įven though we all know above game how things will go down, it is exciting build-up to the reveal that the Death Star was destroyed at Yavin and worlds begin dividing themselves between sides of the conflict.īasically I think for an Age of Rebellion campaign, giving them a sense of helplessness and then hope against the Empire by having 'A New Hope' play out in the background would be a ton of fun! Especially if you give them a chance to work with the Rebellion based out of the Great Temple or even help with the evacuation and establishing a new base on Hoth. The Force Sensitive character experiencing the sudden pit in his heart when Alderaan was destroyed, and the trickling news-feeds justifying the destruction of a whole world. My current EOTE campaign is taking place following alongside the events of A New Hope.
